It occurs when the skulls of conjoined twins are fused together, but they have separate bodies. Imagine how well these sisters must know each other. They’re not just sisters, but conjoined twin sisters! This kind of twins is known in the medical field as C raniopagus Twins (CPT) which means “joined at the head”. “The Girls”, authored by Lori Lansens, tells the story of a remarkable love shared between two sisters, Rose & Ruby. ![]() That’s the beauty of having a sister and one of the many perks if I may say. At less than 100Php (a little over $2), my sister, Claire, was able to buy this book from Book Sale which she of course lent to me. It’s amazing how thrift bookstores can reveal an unexpected but delightful surprise in the form of a secondhand, slightly tattered awe-inspiring book. Now almost thirty, Rose and Ruby are on the verge of becoming the oldest living craniopagus twins in history but they are remarkable for a lot more than their unusual sisterly bond. Joined at the head, “ The Girls” (as they are known in their small town) attempt to lead a normal life, but can’t help being extraordinary. Yet, in all that time, she has never once looked into Ruby’s eyes. ![]() She has never gone for a solitary walk or had a private conversation.
